Green Thorns are a special botanical resource grown by players using the Gardening System.
They are harvested from Bright Green Snake Plants and Bright Green Barrel Cacti, both of which are hybridized plants you can grow through cross-pollination.
They serve as usable consumable items that trigger unique world effects when planted in various types of terrain.
You’ll need seeds for Bright Green Snake Plants or Bright Green Barrel Cacti.
These can be obtained by cross-pollinating plants in your garden.
For example: crossing certain color variants of Snake Plant or Barrel Cactus has a chance to produce the “Bright Green” mutation.
Seeds may also be sold or traded by other players who specialize in botany.
The magic of Green Thorns lies in where you plant them — their effect changes depending on the terrain you target.
You “plant” a Thorn by double-clicking it in your backpack and targeting a valid patch of ground.
After use, the Thorn disappears, and the effect happens instantly (or nearly instantly).
Note: Valid patches of ground spawn randomly around the world.
They can be identified via their tooltip: “a spot to plant” when you press Ctrl.

| Terrain Type | Result / Effect |
|---|---|
| Dirt | A few bags with magery reagents bursts from the ground. |
| Farmersfield | A Vorpal Bunny spawns — a cute but deadly magical rabbit that attacks you. Defeating it can yield unique loot or gold. |
| Snow / Ice Terrain | A Ice Wyrm appears — a strong monster, useful for loot or combat challenges, can be tamed! |
| Swamp | Summons a Whipping Swamp Kentriplokame, a mutant swamp monster that can drop rare items when killed. |
| Desert | Opens a teleporter to a hidden solen nest that will disappear after a very(!) short duration. |
