Use or double-click Kindling or a Tinderbox to build the basic campfire. This basic campfire provides no character benefits, but you can Cook on it with a Cooking Pot. Once any campfire or campsite is built in the world, any player can interact with it.
Campers must be dismounted throughout the entire build process.
After the Basic Campfire is built, right-click and select Camp or simply double-click the Basic Campfire to attempt to build a Roaring Campfire. The Camp ability requires Wooden Logs to create the Roaring Campfire, and will automatically pull from your backpack if you have available Wooden Logs. If you succeed at building the Roaring Campfire, the coals of the Basic Campfire will turn Red, indicating that you are about to finish building a Roaring Campfire.
Camping success rates have a 50% minimum chance regardless of skill that scales up with greater Camping skill.
Roaring Campfires allow any player in range to rest fully, regenerating Health, Mana, and Stamina.
Regeneration rates are based upon the player's Camping skill near the Roaring Campfire (Camping Skill/100).
Camping skill of 75 or greater unlocks Campfire Mastery, which adds a Flat Bonus Regeneration Rate of .5x normal speed to the Regeneration Rate equation.
Therefore, a GM Camper would have a maximum of 1.5x normal speed Regeneration Rate (Camping Skill/100 + Campfire Mastery Bonus = 1.5x normal speed).
Players can also Cook without a Cooking Pot at a Roaring Campfire.
After the Roaring Campfire is built, right-click and select Secure Campsite to attempt to build a Secure Campsite. The Secure Campsite ability also requires Wooden Logs to create, and will automatically pull from your backpack if you have them available. If you succeed at building the Secure Campsite, you will see plumes of Black Smoke, indicating that you are about to finish building a Secure Campsite.
Secure Campsites have all the same benefits of the Roaring Campfire, but also introduce the Pitch Tent ability.
Once you have successfully secured the campsite, right-click and select Pitch Tent. The Pitch Tent ability requires both Logs and Cloth.
Only 1 Tent can be fashioned per Secure Campsite, and Tents will only last 5 minutes before they crumble with no way to extend the duration. Once the tent disappears, you must destroy the campfire and rebuild it or create a new campfire to pitch another.
Any player can attempt to pitch a tent regardless of skill.
The Rest ability requires a tent and any player can use the right-click Rest ability on a Tent that you create. The Rest ability gives the player a stat buff depending on the tier of the tent.
The Rest right-click ability will play a stretching animation on your character that indicates the stat buff has been applied.
The Rest stat buff duration is scaled with camping skill and has a 20 minute minimum duration at zero camping skill which scales up to 2 hours at GM Camping.
Once a Basic Tent is successfully built, the Fortify ability allows players to upgrade their existing Tent to the next Tier, which, again, requires both Logs and Cloth to attempt.
The Campfire Protection Bonus buffs all Stats depending on the tier of the tent:
All Tent versions provide Instant Logout when using the right-click Fall Asleep ability, and will clearly state "You are now safe to fall asleep" for instant logging.
The Fall Asleep ability only works for the owner of the tent
While performing any campfire action your character will be locked in animation and unable to fight or perform any other action. The Put Out ability will cancel the building of the Campfire and allow you to move freely again.
There will also be times when a player does not want to share Campfire benefits, and the Destroy Campsite ability will completely remove everything at Camp. Any player can extinguish campfires and campsites regardless if they created it or not.
At 80 Camping, Campers can Destroy their Campsite to get a 50% chance to Salvage a small amount of spent materials back.
